About Us

Barker Lyman, P.C., concentrates in the preparation and trial of civil lawsuits. Located in downtown Houston, Texas, near the federal and state courthouses, the firm has its roots in the defense of personal-injury cases. The nature of the cases tried by the firm has changed over the years to encompass almost all areas of civil litigation. Five firm members have been certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Personal Injury Trial Law. The head of the firm's appellate section is triple board certified in Personal Injury, Civil Trial, and Civil Appellate Law. Certification requires knowledge of the law, recommendations of peers, and significant courtroom experience. Four of our attorneys have been inducted into the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Founded in 1957, ABOTA selects attorneys from both sides of the docket who display integrity, civility, and advocacy; members must meet the Board's stringent requirements. One shareholder, Charlie Lyman, is a Diplomat member of ABOTA, a membership status achieved only by trial lawyers who have tried a minimum of 100 civil-jury trials to a verdict. The firm enjoys a reputation in the Texas legal community for hard work, good judgment, and outstanding advocacy at the courthouse.

Organized in 1952 to defend policyholders of major insurance companies, Barker Lyman's client base has continually expanded and includes individuals, insurance companies, small businesses, and major corporations. The firm served as regional counsel to a client in the breast implant litigation and has served for over 20 years as lead counsel for a client in the defense of silicosis litigation. Whether the litigation is large or small, simple or complex, you can rely on Barker Lyman, P.C., for experience, integrity, and results.
