Biography

Charlie Lyman tried his first lawsuit to a jury verdict two weeks after going to work for the firm (then known as Talbert, Giessel & Stone) in 1972. Since that first trial, he has tried over 200 cases to verdict.

Mr. Lyman's practice focuses on representation of individuals and companies, large and small, in construction-related litigation, products liability medical device litigation, professional-malpractice claims, premises-liability cases, personal-injury matters, plant-explosion cases, catastrophic industrial accident cases, as well as all other types of civil litigation.

Mr. Lyman has been awarded Diplomat status by his peers in the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). He is a past president of the local ABOTA chapter. Since 1978, he has been Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Lyman was named a "Texas Super Lawyer" by Texas Monthly and Law & Politics magazines, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Mr. Lyman received his B.S./B.A. in 1967 from the University of Arkansas and his J.D. from the University of Houston in 1970. In addition to his practice in Texas, Mr. Lyman is admitted to practice in Virginia and also before the U.S. Court of Military Appeals. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Virginia State Bar, the Houston Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Texas Association of Defense Counsel (Board of Directors 1992-94), the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel, and the Texas Bar Foundation (Fellow). He has received Martindale-Hubbell's highest (AV) rating.
